What is Vulnerability Management?
Vulnerability management is a process for discovering, analyzing and managing vulnerabilities in a network or system. The process typically involves a combination of manual and automated analysis of systems and networks, including identification of vulnerabilities, classification of risks, and implementation of measures to minimize or eliminate vulnerabilities. The vulnerability management process is often part of a larger security plan and may include other competencies such as breach management, backup and continuity planning. Compared to these other competencies, vulnerability management is usually more technically oriented and focuses on discovering and managing vulnerabilities in systems and networks.
