What is Network Administration?

Network administration is the technology used to manage and maintain a network. Network administrators are responsible for ensuring that the network runs smoothly and that all users have access to the resources they need. Network administration includes everything from installing and configuring network components to managing user needs and ensuring the network is secure. Compared to other competencies, network administration is more technically oriented. A good knowledge of network components and how they work together is required. Network administrators must also be familiar with different network protocols and how they are used. Other competencies related to network administration are network security and network management.
