What is Microbiology?

Microbiology is a science that studies microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa. Using various techniques and methods, microbiologists investigate the life cycles of microorganisms, their interactions with their environment and their role in various biological processes. One of the most important branches of microbiology is medical microbiology, which focuses on microorganisms that cause disease in humans. By studying these pathogenic microorganisms, scientists can develop new methods to fight infectious diseases and improve human health. There are many different programs that offer similar functions to Microbiology. Examples of other sciences within biology are genetics, ecology and cell biology.
