What is ISO?

ISO is an international organization for the standardization of various technologies and processes. Most of ISO's standards are technical specifications that describe how to do something, for example how to manufacture a product or perform a certain service. ISO standards are voluntary, but many companies choose to follow them to demonstrate that they meet certain quality requirements. ISO has developed several different standards in different areas, but the most well-known standard is ISO 9001. ISO 9001 is a quality management standard that describes how to plan, implement and control a business so that it meets certain quality requirements. ISO 9001 is the most widely used quality management standard in the world and is used by companies in various industries. There are also other standards within ISO, for example ISO 14001 which is an environmental management standard. ISO 14001 describes how to plan, implement and control a business so that it meets certain environmental requirements.
