What is Haproxy?
HAProxy is a free and open source software that acts as a reverse proxy, load balancer and proxy server. The software is written in C and has been around since 2001. HAProxy is used to distribute traffic to different web servers and to handle high loads efficiently. The software can run on all common operating systems and virtualization platforms. HAProxy is one of the most popular reverse proxies and load balancers on the internet. The software is used by many large companies and services, such as GitHub, Reddit, Twitter and Tumblr.
