What is AASHTO?

AASHTO, or the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, is an organization that works to develop standards and guidelines for transportation and road infrastructure in the United States. The organization works with various government agencies to promote safety, sustainability and efficiency in the transportation sector. AASHTO sets standards for road construction, materials and maintenance, among other things. Their guidelines are used by government agencies when planning and implementing road and infrastructure projects. Adhering to AASHTO standards ensures that roads and bridges are safe and durable for the public. As with Photoshop, there are other organizations and standards to consider in the transportation sector. Examples of other organizations in the road and transportation sector are the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) and the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). All organizations work to ensure that the transportation infrastructure in the United States is efficient and sustainable.
